Vladislav Nastashev


Nastashev graduated from the Department of Acting at the St. Petersburg State Theatre Academy in 2004. In 2007 he finished the Department of Directing at St. Martin’s College of Art and Design in London. In London he staged “Rudin” after Ivan Turgenev at the Arcola Theatre renowned for its bent for experimental work, and Strindberg’s “Miss July” at the Cochrane Theatre. In 2008 “Miss July” was transferred to the Belvoir Street Downstairs in Sydney. Nastashev usually designs the sets and costumes for his stagings and even composes musical scores. In 2009 he took 3rd Price at Andrei Petrov All-Russian Contest of Composers in Pop Music and Romance nomination.

In 2010 Nastashev directed “Mitya’s Love” after Ivan Bunin at the Dirty Deal Teatro in Latvia that was followed by Davenport’s “Boys Smell of Oranges” for which he received the National Prize “The Night of Play-Actors” in the Young Stage Master nomination. In the same year his innovative quests were marked by Action in Support of Theatre Initiatives in Moscow (the prize for the staging of Russian classics abroad was bestowed for the first time in the previous eight years). At the New Drama Theatre in Riga Nastashev directed “The Dark Alleys” based on Ivan Bunin’s like-named cycle of stories. At Latvia’s National Theatre he staged Tennessee Williams’ “Suddenly, Last Summer” that took prizes in three nominations at “The Night of Play-Actors” in the 2011/2012 season. For the staging of “Miss July” at the Valmiera Theatre Nastashev was nominated for “Director of the Year” prize.
