Peter Fomenko

Graduated from GITIS in 1961 – the course of A.Goncharov's. From 1963 worked at the Moscow drama theatre, in 1971-1981 at the Leningrad Comedy theatre. From 1983 he taught at the directing faculty of GITIS (RATI). Since 1992 he has been the art director of the “Fomenko Workshop” theater. Among the productions of “Fomenko Workshop” there are: “As you like it” by W. Shakespeare at the Malaya Bronnaya Theatre, "Misanthrope" by. J. B. Moliere and A. Ostrovsky's "Forest" at the Leningrad Comedy theatre, "Fruits of Enlightenment" by L. Tolstoy at V. Mayakovsky Theatre, "Wolves and Sheep" in GITIS, "Guilty Without Guilt" by A. Ostrovsky, A.Pushkin's "Queen of spades" at E. Vakhtangov Theatre, “The magnificent cuckold” by F.Krommelink at the “Satyricon “,”Tchitchikov. Dead souls, volume II “by N. Gogol, “One absolutely happy village” by B. Vakhtin, “Family happiness", " War and peace. The beginning of the novel” by L.Tolstoy, Mad of Chaillot " by Jean Giraudoux," “Egyptian Nights “ by A. Pushkin, "Bride" by Ostrovsky, “The tale from the Ardennes forest” by W. Shakespeare and J. Kim, "Triptych" after Pushkin's texts. Fomenko’s productions abroad: in Poland, Austria, France. Fomenko has the title of the People's Artist of Russia. He is the winner of State and "Golden Mask" awards.
