Maska Plus 2012
Non-competition programme
March 2012
The Golden Mask non-competition programme Maska Plus has been part of the Golden Mask since 2009. The programme includes Russian performances, recommended by experts, as well as productions from the CIS, Baltic and other European countries.
Maska Plus complements the main (competition) programme of the Golden Mask Festival with its predefined format and strict selection. The organizers felt, at one point, that it would be worth while to present performances that did not make it into the "short list" of the GM award nominees but still deserve attention and appreciation of professionals and public at large. Bright, original works, created by talented actors, young theatre directors, graduates of theatre schools, independent companies and experimental studios often appear at the genre crossing.
Maska Plus demonstrates the diversity of current trends. The programme enables to see what is happening at the edges of theatre mainstream, and what, most importantly, often determines the future of the theatre.
In 2012 Maska Plus will feature productions from Russia, the CIS and Baltic countries.
